Using the App

Master the Prompt Assistant interface and integrate it into your daily workflow.

Prompt Assistant lives in your macOS menu bar (top-right of your screen, near the clock). This provides quick access without cluttering your Dock.

Left-click the icon to open the main popover
Right-click for a quick menu with credits info, settings, and quit option

Main Interface

The popover window contains everything you need:

Navigation Tabs

Dashboard - Main prompt improvement interface (default)
History - View all your past prompt improvements
Favorites - Quick access to saved prompts
Settings - Opens the settings window

Dashboard Components

Skill Picker - Choose a specific skill or leave on "Auto-detect"
Target Model - Select the AI model you're writing for (Claude, ChatGPT, Midjourney, etc.)
Input Area - Type or paste your original prompt
Improve Button - Process your prompt
Output Area - View and copy the improved result

Keyboard Shortcuts

The real power of Prompt Assistant is in its global keyboard shortcuts that work from any application:

`Cmd`+`Shift`+`U`	Start voice recording (Pro only)

How Cmd+Shift+I Works

Select text in any application (email, browser, notes, IDE)
Press Cmd+Shift+I
Prompt Assistant reads the selected text
The popover opens with the improved prompt
Click "Copy" or use the result directly

Tip: You can customize the keyboard shortcuts in Settings > Shortcuts.

Skill Selection

Skills are specialized templates that optimize prompts for different use cases:

Auto-detect (default) - AI analyzes your text and automatically picks the best skill
Manual selection - Choose a specific skill from the dropdown

For example, if you're writing a prompt for video generation, the Video Prompt skill will add camera movements, lighting, and technical details automatically.

Target Models

Different AI models have different prompt styles. Prompt Assistant can format your improved prompt specifically for:
