Getting Started

Get Prompt Assistant up and running on your Mac in just a few minutes.

System Requirements

  • macOS 13.0 (Ventura) or later
  • Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3) or Intel Mac
  • Internet connection for AI processing

Download & Install

  1. Download the app from our homepage by clicking the Download button
  2. Open the DMG file and drag Prompt Assistant to your Applications folder
  3. Launch the app from Applications or Spotlight (Cmd+Space, type "Prompt Assistant")

First launch: macOS may show a security warning. Right-click the app and select "Open" to bypass this. You only need to do this once.

First-Time Setup

When you first launch Prompt Assistant, you'll go through a brief onboarding process:

Step 1: Create an Account

Sign up with your email and password, or sign in if you already have an account. You'll get 50 free prompt improvements to start.

Step 2: Tutorial

A quick visual guide showing you how the app works and its key features.

Step 3: Grant Permissions

Prompt Assistant needs specific macOS permissions to work properly:

Privacy note: We only access text when you explicitly trigger an improvement with a keyboard shortcut. We never monitor or collect your data in the background.

Your First Prompt Improvement

Once setup is complete, try improving your first prompt:

  1. Open any text editor, email client, or browser
  2. Type or select some text you want to improve
  3. Press Cmd+Shift+I
  4. The improved prompt appears in the Prompt Assistant popover
  5. Click "Copy" to use it

Alternatively, click the Prompt Assistant icon in your menu bar to open the popover and type your prompt directly.
